How to Display Recent Comments Widgets in a Blog SideBar

Blogger blogspot comments are embedded below the post and are only visible once someone is viewing a blog post.  In some instances,  you would like comments to be easily visible in your homepage/side bar where they can easily be accessed by your readers. This is also another way of encouraging conversation among the readers since they can easily follow up the comments on the sidebar.

To show the list of recents comments in your blog. Go to Blogger - Settings - Sitefeeds - Switch to Advanced Mode. Select Blog Posts Feeds, Blog Comments Feeds and Per Post Comments Feed to  Full or Short (old interface) then Save Settings.

For those using Blogger new interface;  Go to Settings - Others - Allow Blog feed - Select Custom on drop down menu after the word Full.  Set Blog Posts Feeds, Blog Comments Feeds and Per Post Comments Feed to Full or Short then Save Settings.

After setting your feeds to full or short, go to design/layout - Add a gadget - click on Feeds icon. A small pop up window will appear with Configure Feeds URL. Insert the URL of your blog comments feeds.  For this blog the comments feed URL is;
http://tito-productservicereview.blogspot.com/feeds/comments/default.

Replace the URL of my blog with the URL of your blog then click on Continue. Write the Title of your comments eg Recent Comments. Set the total number of comments that you want to appear in a widget (default is 5 comments). You can check anything else that you want to be displayed along with the comments. In the example below, I have set comments links to open in a new window.

Click on Save. If you check your blog, you will find a list of 5 recent comments displayed on your sidebar. Please note that the maximum number of comments links that you can be able to display in one widget is only 5 at a time.

  1. Hi Tito, I don't think I have the same interface as you. Rather than click on Advanced, I have Other. Inside here I can Allow Blog Feed but there is no Blog Comment Feed.

    I'm just using a simple template for my site. Any idea what I can try now?

    I really want all my comments showing!
    Thanks.
