How to Save and Back up Blog

Backing up your blog contents is very important and a must for everyone with a blog. This is because, despite blog been very safe, there is still possibility that your blog can be detected as spam and get deleted. Once your blog get deleted, you may have some tough time trying to recover it from Google cache and this only applies if your blog is indexed by Google.

Otherwise, if you have not indexed your blog, you may not be able to recover it anymore. Let say that your blog was already indexed by Google, you can recover it by going to Google Website and typing the following; cache:Yourblogname.blogspot.com/. If not, then you will probably not be able to recover your blog unless you had a backup somewhere.

To avoid this problem, it is better to have frequent backups for your blog. Simply log in to your;

  • Blogger - Dashboard
  • Settings
  • Others
  • Blog Tools
  • Click on Export Blog
  • Click on Download Blog

Save it at your preferred place in your computer. The blog that you save is stored as (.xml) file which you can keep as a backup for future reference or you can import it into another blog.

How to Import Contents to an Existing Blog

Log in to; 
  • Blogger Dashboard
  • Settings
  • Others
  • Blog Tools
  • Click on Import Blog
  • Select the file that you want to import
  • Click on Import Blog
  
The imported content is simply merged with current posts and sorted by dates. If you want the imported contents to be published automatically then click on the box that shows Automatically Publish all Imported Posts. Otherwise, your imported posts will remain unpublished until you publish them from the dashboard.

If you choose to publish your posts later from your dashboard, click on post new/edit posts, choose either to publish all the imported posts or publish individuals posts by first selecting those posts you want to be published and then selecting publish selected.

You now have the older contents from your previous blog in your new blog. You can also back up your content by subscribing to your own blog through email or Feedblitz. This method allow all your new posts to be send directly to your email box.
