Submitting a sitemap to Google Webmaster Tool is usually easy because you do not need to manually download the sitemap. It is usually automatically done. The only thing that you need to do is to  go to Google Webmaster Tool Home Page, click on Optimization - Sitemap - Add/Test Sitemap.

Below the URL of your blog, on the empty filed adds rss.xml or atom.xml. Your URL should looks like this or  and click on submit. I have written a previous article on how to add site to Google.

For Bing and, it is not as easy as it is with Google and you need to submit your sitemap manually. Here is an easy way to go about it.

For Bing
Click on the browser address bar and paste the following lines then hit enter. Blog URL/rss.xml

Please note that Your Blog URL is the correct URL of your blog. If it you succeed in submitting the sitemap,  you will receive a message from Bing that informs you that your sitemap has been submitted successfully.

Click on the browser address bar and paste the following lines and then hit enter. Blog URL/rss.xml

You will receive a message informing you whether it was successfully submitted or not.

You can also submit your sitemap through by doing the following; Go to Bing Website, enter site:your URL on the space provided and enter. If you page is indexed, Bing will display your page on a new window if not, submit your URL by clicking on the submit link found at the bottom of the page.

Fill up the captcha box, enter your URL and click on submit.  It will only take a few day before your site is indexed.

You got a very helpful post here especially for newbies. I think it is really a must that we submit our sites to major search engines such as Google or Bing. If we really want to rank and gain more visitors then we need to do it."
